While we were waiting for the missed event to be over we walked around the new town and happened upon a fare trade market and bought a few neat souvenirs then went to the book signing. The next event we had tickets for was in an hour and we wanted to make sure we were not late for it so we decided to sit at a nearby café. Since we weren’t very hungry yet I told Drew “Life is short, eat dessert first” and that we did.
She has already ratted me out when she talked to her mom tonight! Next book event was for Cornelia Funke and she was wonderful. Next up was the 6 of us to do the Mary King’s Close tour and we grabbed a cab. Crowds are unbelievable in town and what should have been a 10 minute cab ride turned into 30 minutes stalled in traffic. Again we were late and our scheduled tour had already departed. No more openings today, but they said they would reschedule us for 9 am tomorrow. Cab is already booked for 8 to make sure we are there on time.
The Royal Mile is closed to vehicles and the crowds there were incredible. We make our way back to our apartment and decide to eat in tonight. When Harry & Diann returned from shopping, to our surprise Harry had a new wardrobe!
Tim checks to make sure he is properly dressed
After resting a bit Stacy, Drew and I decide to explore Carlton Hill which is a 5 minute walk from us thinking we might catch a sunset since it has been another beautiful day.
Here is the lounger Drew is trying to figure out how to take home:
Since I was a little warm at times yesterday in jeans, today I wore capris and ¾ sleeve shirt and felt much better. For our walk Drew and Stacy wore sweaters and if I would have had one with me would have probably put it on but didn’t get really cold without one since we were walking. It is suppose to rain a lot in Scotland but the past 2 days have been perfect. Stacy said it must be fall here year round, not to hot during the day and cool at night.Looking at Tim & Harry on the hotel rooftop terrace from Calton Hill:
From Drew: The book festival was awesome! I got to hear Cornelia Funke (Inkheart Series, Dragon Rider) talk about being a writer, and Sally Gardner (The Red Necklace, The Silver Blade) sign my book, The Red Necklace! It was very fascinating hearing about Cornelia. Her books are about fantasy worlds and fantasy creatures, and they are very good.
Loves Edinburgh, haha. I got brownies and ice cream for lunch, and a Hot Chocolate Pudding Cake for dinner hahahaha. Just about the only good food I ate was Eggs for breakfast. And the Scottish Fudge was ***AMAZING***!!!!!!!!!!!! Love you Mom, Dad, Mace, and Cade!!!!!!
Oh my God; my dates are so screwed up I forgot you were leaving and didn't get a chance to call with good wishes. Not that you need them because it sounds like you are having a fantastic time. Love the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with Harry and his new clothes. Tell Diann she might have competition. LOL.
Continue keeping us all up to date so we can feel as though we are there too.
Hope the weather continues to be good so you can have the best of both worlds and sightseeing will be comfortable.
Love to all,-
G
Looks like an amazing city. Is that the Forth Bridge in the sunset picture?
ReplyDeleteDrew, it's so good to hear how much fun you are having just from the excitement coming through the phone. We are all completely, insanely jealous. Mom was freaking out when her phone died, running over trucks and getting ready to make her own exit. We both look forward to your calls that much. Macy wants to talk to you tomorrow when you call. She and Cade miss you and can't wait to show you your "new room".
Hope you have fun tomorrow (today) on your tour, and that the Tattoo is exciting. We miss and love you, Mom and Dad.
Harry, what a stud you are!!!! You look amazing in your kilt.
ReplyDeleteAll of this looks like so much fun. I love traveling with you via your blog and can't wait until next year when we all do the Liberty of the Seas together again.
